Concert Bands and Jazz Program

Dear Conservatorium Band Parents:

Below is the schedule for the Open Day / Christmas Concert at Wollongong Town Hall on Saturday, December 1st.  The dress will be black conservatorium T-shirts.  If you have an old one, you may trade it in for a new one.  If do not have one, you can buy one directly from me for $10.  I may not have enough of the correct size, but I’ve ordered some more and they should be in soon.  Students may also add Christmas hats and decorations to themselves it they would like.

You will need to arrive at town hall 20 minutes before our performance.  Please remember your sheet music and all the parts of you instrument (as well as your instrument of course).

If you are not able to attend this concert, I really need to know before hand.  Parents, can I ask that you please text me, email me, or tell me if your child cannot perform?

A copy of this note and the schedule will be posted on www.dunanbandman.com incase you need to reference it.

October 22, 2012

Dear Concert Band, Junior Concert Band, and Beginners Band Parents and Students:

There are a few important dates to consider for term 4:

Scholarship applications for 2013 tuition at the Wollongong Conservatorium close on October 28th.  If you are interested in applying for one of these scholarships, please log on to www.wollcon.com.au or click the link on my website www.dunanbandman.com.

This Coming Saturday, October 27th the Wollongong Conservatorium will present a great concert at the Illawarra Performing Arts Center (IPAC) featuring the Sirens Big Band.  This is a 17-piece band featuring all the best female jazz artists in Australia (including Wollongong Con’s own Sophie Unsen).  The award-winning Wollongong Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra (lead by yours truly) will play a short opening set.  Show starts at 7pm and tickets are available through the Con’s website www.wollcon.com.au, the IPAC, or www.wollongongjazz.com. Prices are $10 students, $15 Concession, $20 Adult.  The most important thing you can do to further your children’s appreciation and understanding of music, is to take them to hear great musicians perform.  This is one of those opportunities.

End of Year Performance Saturday, December 1st.  The Concert Band and Junior Concert Band will be performing at the upcoming Open Day/Christmas Concert at Wollongong Town Hall along with all the other ensembles and orchestras from the Conservatorium.  The exact schedule is not posted yet, but it will be sometime between 10am-5pm.  I will confirm details as soon as I have them, but please make a note on your calendar.  We will be wearing the new black Con T-shirts (which are now here).  If you’ve already paid for one or have exchanged an old shirt, you may get one from me.  Otherwise, you can bring in an old con shirt or $10 for exchange.

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.  I’m most easily contacted by text message or email.

Sincerely,

Eric Dunan
