Information for Port Macquarie Big Band Blast 2019

Here is some updated information for the upcoming Port Macquarie Excursion:


Itinerary:

Friday Morning 31 May: 
Meet at Conservatorium at 8:30am.  Vans depart at 9am.

-Stops for lunch and rest en route. (Bring bag lunch or money for food)

-Approximately 4pm arrival and check in at Cabins

-Head into town for dinner (bring money) and attend concerts at The Glasshouse (Performing Arts Centre, Port Macquarie Address30-42 Clarence Street &, Hay St, Port Macquarie NSW 2444). 

-Dress warmly and students will need to purchase dinner themselves at nearby restaurants.

9pm back to Cabins.

Saturday 1 June: Performances at Panthers
-8am wake up and breakfast at the Cabins
-9am head into Panthers Club for performances and Workshops All Day. (Bring money to buy lunch at nearby food court)

SATURDAY PERFORMANCE TIMES:

12pm Eric's Tuesday Jazz Band at Panthers Club Auditorium
 
1pm Des' Wednesday Jazz Ensemble 1pm at Panthers Club Auditorium

-4pm (possibly go back to cabins to relax)
-6pm Group dinner at nearby pizza or Thai place (paid for already)
-7pm Attend Evening Concert at Panthers
-9pm (approx.) return to cabins for the night

Sunday 2 June:
-8am wake up and breakfast at Cabins and pack up
-9am possible participate in street parade in Port Macquarie
-10am students who are not performing can attend workshops and performances at Panthers Club or watch the performances during the day.  They will need to get lunch at the nearby food court.

10:30AM - JAZZ ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCE at Panthers Riverside Deck.

-2pm load vans and head home to Wollongong.  Expected Return to Conservatorium between 9-10pm.  I will text everyone our ETA on our way back from Port Macquarie.

Dress: Black Con Shirts.  Bands will wear those shirts as well as black or dark pants on the performances. 

The Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble Performances will take place at the Panthers Club 1 Bay St, Port Macquarie NSW 2444 on Saturday.

Accommodation:  Flynn’s Beach Caravan Park 22 Ocean St, Port Macquarie NSW 2444.  Phone (2) 6583 5754. The girls will have their own Cabin.  Boys will have separate Cabins.  Chaperones will either be a separate room within the cabin, or in a separate cabin that is nearby.

Chaperones: Eric Dunan, Des Cannings, and Ali Mathie (Josh’s Mum)

 What to Bring:

-Money for dinner on Friday and Sunday.  (Dinner for Saturday is include in costs)
-Money for lunch on Saturday and Sunday (and Friday if not bringing a bag lunch)
-Water Bottle
-Warm Jacket for being out at night and mornings
 -Clothes (warm) and toiletries for three days and two nights.
-Warm jacket for being outside...especially on Friday night.
-You do NOT need to bring towels or bedding as they are provided.
-Black Con Shirt (short sleeve for jazz band, and long sleeve for Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble)
-Black pants
-Dark shoes
-Your instrument

Equipment:
-Drums, bass amp, keyboard amp, guitar amps are provided.
-We will bring some percussion AND cymbals.

Meals and Money needed:  Saturday night dinner and all breakfasts will be provided.  You will need to bring money for lunch en route on Friday (or a bag lunch), Friday dinner, plus money for Saturday lunch and Sunday Lunch and dinner.

Remember to bring a bottle of water.

Indemnity form and Code of Conduct. 

When you make your online payment you will be required to fill out an indemnity form. 

Please pay registration online.  When you register you will also fill out the indemnity form. 

If you pay in the office, you will need to fill out a hard copy of the indemnity form.

All Students and parents must also sign a Code of Conduct form.

Port Macquarie Big Band Blast - Code of Conduct 2019

Whilst travelling as a member of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Jazz Groups, I understand I am under the supervision of Eric Dunan, Des Cannings, and other chaperones. I agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct and I will;

1. Never go anywhere alone. Students must always in groups of 3 or more. Please look to include others in your group. You may not leave the designated performance area or accommodation without direct permission for Eric Dunan.

2. Obey and comply with the “NO SMOKING” and “DRUG FREE” rule

3. Speak and conduct myself in a courteous, polite and cooperative manner at all times

4. Obey Accommodation guidelines and curfews

5. Not buy or consume alcohol at any time. This applies to ALL participants regardless of age.

6. Be tolerant of others in the group and respect their rights, feelings and property

7. Be PUNCTUAL at all times.

8. Accept I am representing the Conservatorium and will present a positive image at all times

9. Accept that the Chaperones have responsibility for my safety and well-being and will follow any instruction from them in a cooperative manner and will accept any consequence deemed fair and appropriate in cases where I fail to comply with the Code of Conduct

  1. Behave in a sensible, safe and cooperative manner at all times and I will NOT engage in any activity that puts my safety or the safety of others at risk or may damage the property of the Conservatorium or individuals.

  2. Take responsibility for my own medication and its administration. I will also inform the Chaperones of the medication and dosages I am taking.

I understand that while everything is done to ensure both the comfort and safety of the students on the Port Macquarie Excursion, and whilst every care will be exercised by those who are in charge, the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music accepts no responsibility in any way for any accident or sickness that may occur through any circumstance.

I authorise the Supervising Staff Member(s) of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, in the event of any accident or illness, to obtain all necessary medical assistance if I am unable to be contacted. I agree to pay all doctor’s hospital fees and expenses incurred on behalf of the said student. In the event of an emergency necessitating the performance of an urgent surgical procedure on the student, I hereby authorise such a procedure and the administration of anaesthetic provided that a qualified practitioner administers such medical treatment.

I understand that the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music does not accept any responsibility in any way for any theft, loss or damages to personal equipment such as musical instruments, cameras, mobile phones, etc.
